Finance Minister, Seth Tekper is expected to present the 2017 budget to parliament today.

He is to present government expenditure and estimate of appropriation. Madina MP, Alhaji Amadu Sorogho, stated the budget is to prevent a halt in government business in the event of a change in government.

The 2017 budget is set to cover the first three months of next year so that in the event of a new regime taking over the reins of governance, it can settle and then prepare its own budget.

Hon. Sorogho however does not expect a widening of the tax bracket.

Meanwhile Financial Expert, John Gatsi says he expects the minister to touch on oil proceeds and its distribution. He noted there was need for the budget to cater for payments of civil servants and management other segments of society for 2017’s first quarter.

He also did not anticipate new tax impositions.
