Former Interior Minister Prosper Bani has called for extensive diplomatic resolution to the political crisis in the Gambia following the deployment of troops to the Gambia to supervise the inaugural ceremony of President-elect Adama Barrow.

President Jammeh lost last year’s general elections in the Gambia to Adama Barrow and conceded defeat but later came back giving reasons why he would not accept the electoral results.

There have been calls for from ECOWAS for him to step down but he has refused to let go of power.

Speaking to Onua FM, he said “should the forces of ECOWAS enter the Gambia, there will be loss of lives and destruction of property so I will support extensive diplomatic resolution to the problem”.

According to him “Ghana is a legitimate member of ECOWAS and we will not be doing justice to the continent if we pull back.”

“The people of Africa have chosen democracy and so if their will has resulted in the change of government, then it is up to Jammeh to heed to that.” He added.
