General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has stated that the problems that emerged in the  special voting exercise which took place yesterday December 1 would have been hazardous if it had happened on December 7 2016.

“The exercise was characterized with problems but we thank God that it was not the special voting and not the general polls. It would have been dangerous if it was the general elections”, Asiedu Nketia exclaimed.

Speaking on Rainbow Radio, the General Secretary stated that though the Electoral Commission (EC) in agreement with all political parties contesting this year’s election has set Sunday December 4, 2016 for the continuation of the special voting exercise, he believes majority of the problems faced in the exercise emanates from the low public education on the special voting exercise.

He further stated that the period within which the EC publicized for its decision to transfer special voters was short and that voters on the special voters list can only vote at their original constituency as compared to the past where special voters were given letters to vote at centres of their choice.
