The Minority chief whip in Ghana’s Parliament, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak is set to vacate his position as a result of his involvement in the bribery allegation that has befall Parliament in recent times. Primenewsghana has gathered

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase constituency in the Ashanti region has been accused of giving bribes to the minority members of the Appointment Committee in Parliament.

Bawku Central MP Hon. Mahama Ayariga, on 27 January 2017 alleged on Accra-based Radio Gold that Mr Agyarko a then minister designate for Energy whose approval had been frozen pending the determination of certain issues, gave out GHS3000 as bribe to each of the minority members of the Appointment committee with the aim of influencing their decision to approve his nomination without further delay.

Addressing the Joe Ghartey Committee investigating the bribery allegations in Parliament, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak said, he was shocked by the claims as he had not given any money to the Bawku Central Member of Parliament(MP), Mr. Ayariga or any member of the committee.

“I had never given money to anybody saying I had received it from either Chairman of the Appointment Committee, Joe Osei-Owusu or Boakye Agyarko,” he stated.

However, information privy to Primenewsghana has it that, for the fact that the Minority Chief whip is involved in such criminal act, he must resign as a leader in Parliament or be forced to do so.
