The Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II will name the successor of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II very soon, information we have gathered suggests.

According to our sources, the Asantehene who is himself an advocate against litigations concerning chieftaincy would want to quickly install a new Asantehemaa to serve as a worthy example for his paramount chiefs to emulate.

In this regard, he is expected to announce his choice of a new Asantehemaa in two weeks, our source disclosed.

Before the nomination of the new Asantehemaa, Kokofuhemaa, Osagyefo Kusiwaa Mmua Bayie has been selected to act as the Queen Mother of the Ashanti Kingdom.

The mortal remains of Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II who happens to be the biological mother of the Asantehene, was laid to rest in the early hours of Friday at the Breman Royal Mausoleum after being passed through the Bantama Royal Mausoleum for the performance of the final traditional rites.

Friday's burial climaxed the four-day burial rites of the 13th Asantehemaa who died on November 15, 2016 aged 111 years.
