Despite the insistence of Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, that he does not want any ministerial appointment, some chiefs in his constituency have called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to appoint him as the Central Regional Minister.

According to the chiefs, Mr Agyapong has the capacity to bring development to the region if he becomes the next minister.

Led by Nana Kankam Akomaning, the Tufuhene of Affutuakwa Traditional Area in the Assin Central capital of Assin Foso, the chiefs disclosed in an interview with Accra-based Onua FM that they will officially visit the president and put forward their request.

The lobby comes just a day after the President named 36 ministers-designate and promised to announce the 10 regional ministers in the coming week but it is still not clear whether the MP will be willing to take up such an appointment since he is on record to have stated disinterest in ministerial positions.
