The Electoral Commission (EC) has explained the reasons for its delay in releasing results of yesterday's general elections.

According to the Commission's Head of Communications, Eric Kofi Dzakpasu, the release of the results had delayed because "it had decided to review all results from the collation centers".

In a press statement released on Thursday, Mr Dzakpasu explained that the review had become necessary because they had been alerted that "several instances of over voting have allegedly occurred at a number of polling stations" and to "ensure the integrity of the results of the election the Commission would be verifying "against the physical  pink sheets from the polling stations".
