Immediate past President of Ghana, John Mahama has said it is too early a time for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to be calling for his comeback as a Presidential Candidate ahead of 2020 general election.

Speaking at a meeting yesterday January 12 2017 with minority Members of Parliament and some NDC party executives in Accra, former President Mahama admonished the party and its members to halt arguments over his future political ambition and rather channel their energies into reorganizing the NDC and strengthening its base.

Former President posted on his Facebook page saying “Spent my Thursday afternoon with the NDC caucus in Parliament. Great atmosphere, frank discussions and Networking #JMLegacy”

Meanwhile, the family of the former President, few days past, reportedly said Ex-President Mahama would not run in 2020.

According former President Mahama’s younger brother, Ibrahim Mahama, who spoke to the media some days past, said they(Mahama’s family) were advising the ex-president to take a bow from active politics.

“John has given his all in politics to the NDC and Ghana and we think it is just fair that we allow him to rest. We were very supportive and instrumental in convincing him to partner Prof Mills, and when the time came for him to contest for president we supported and advised him to go for it… Now we have advised him not to make a comeback in 2020,” Ibrahim Mahama said.
