Independent presidential candidate in the 2016 elections, Jacob Osei Yeboah has confirmed that he has sent a congratulatory message to the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo concerning the elections.

The NPP candidate tweeted on Thursday that he had received congratulatory messages from Mr Yeboah and four other candidates.

Confirming Nana Addo's claim, he stated that he placed a call to Nana Addo at around 10:00am but was quick to add that his message was in respect of Nana Addo taking the lead and not and him winning because the Electoral Commissioner was the only person mandated by law to declare winners of presidential elections.

On the seeming delay of the release of election results by the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr Yeboah was of the opinion that the Commission was being careful with the results in order to avoid another electoral petition but was not doing anything untoward.

He, therefore, urged Ghanaians to be patient with the EC as they gather pink sheets from the over 29,000 pollings to make their declarations.
