The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central in the Central Region, Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, has vowed that the party would prosecute government officials who engaged in corrupt practices during the administration of John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking on Adom Television in Accra, Agyapong said three "corrupt" heads of some state institutions were on the radar for immediate prosecution and jailing.

The three, he said, are the director of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Ernest Thompson, managing director of Bulk Oil Storage and Transport (BOST), Kingsley Kwame Awuah-Darko, and former chief executive officer of COCOBOD, Stephen Opuni.

Accusing the three men of causing financial loss to the organisations they led, the MP said they would be jailed to serve as a deterrent to current government officials.

He singled out former COCOBOD boss, Opuni, for special criticism, accusing him of engaging in misappropriation and embezzlement of the company’s funds.

Agyapong said Opuni had also shredded documents which could implicate him in the event of any investigation.

“People have been arguing with me when I speak but the evidence is enormous that I don’t know where to start from. I am emphatic based on the documents we have. If we don’t punish these people for their wrong doings, NPP officials will come and do same and Ghanaians will vote against us.

“The documents are here and we shall be interrogating them in the coming days. Ghanaians will be shocked when details of these documents are made public. They will see the havoc these NDC appointees have wrecked the economy of the country which Nana Addo must struggle to build”, he said.
