The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has blamed the President, Nana Akufo-Addo for the attacks on its members by supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In the few days after the Electoral Commission (EC) declared Nana Akufo-Addo winner of the December 7 general elections, reports of widespread attacks on NDC supporters by their counterparts from the NPP surfaced with three NDC members allegedly dying as a result.

The situation led the then President, John Mahama to order the security agencies to arrest such rampaging supporters of the NPP.

The attacks abated after the leadership of NPP condemned such acts and also urged the police to deal with the perpetrators.

The vandalism has, however, resurfaced since President Akufo-Addo was sworn-in on January 7, with numerous reports of attacks on NDC supporters by NPP members as they seek to take over state properties.

Addressing a press conference on the issue, General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia stated that the current President was to be blamed because he has failed to stop members of his who are attacking their members without any provocation.

“Less than a week ago, Nana Addo swore that he would uphold the constitution and the laws of the Republic of Ghana and see to the welfare of the people of Ghana and do good to all manner of persons. But what has happened?” “When you are the Commander in Chief and you allow gangsters to be humiliating state security officers, where are we going to?”, he quizzed.Speaking at a press conference in Accra, the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, said the members of his party are running out of patience.

According to him, the members of his party are running out of patience and may retaliate if the attacks do not stop.
