Campaigning for the 2016 elections has finally been brought to a close with barely 24 hours to the start of voting.

Political parties having toured the length and breadth of the country made their last attempts to woo voters over the last two days.

The main opposition party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) held their final rally on Sunday at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra.

The rally, themed 'the Battle is the Lord's' was heavily patronised with thousands of supporters in attendance.

The NPP's presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, pledged to fulfil his election promises and not disappoint Ghanaians when given the nod on Wednesday.

Addressing a charged crowd at the party's final rally to climax its 2016 Campaign at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra on Sunday, he reiterated, "if God gives me victory, what I can do I will, what I can't I won't but I won't disappoint Ghanaians. I will never mislead or lie to the people of Ghana; I'll do all the things I have promised".

The ruling party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on the other hand held its final rally at the  Accra Sports Stadium and though it was insisted as being just a Greater Accra Regional rally, the stadium was filled to capacity with supporters even filling the whole playing area.

Speaking at the rally, President John Mahama asked expressed hope of a victory because of his achievements and the fact that the NDC was the most united party in Ghana at the moment.

"We have been through trying and challenge times in the last four years, we have made modest gains in stabilising our economy, solving power problems and improving social infrastructure" and "I can proudly say that we have made Ghanaians proud with our achievements", he stated, assuring supporters that, "we have done our campaign and run this race like we are the opposition and we'll be victorious".

Notably, however, was the absence of the party's founder, former President J.J. Rawlings but if you are music enthusiast, you would have been compensated by self-proclaimed Dancehall King, Shatta Wale's surprise performance to close the rally.

Also, the Progressive People's Party (PPP) held its final rally at the Kwabina Gyan Square at Elmina in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem (KEEA) constituency in the Central Region.

And they got some very decent crowd as well.

Addressing his supporters, the party's presidential candidate, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom stated that though there was the need to change the Mahama administration, voters should not choose the NPP because of the party’s promise to build a factory in each district because he [Nduom] has already demonstrated his ability to set up more factories by building several of them all over the country.
