The New Patriotic Party(NPP) has threatened to respond in equal measure if the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) attempts any form of violence on its members.

Speaking at a Press Conference held this morning, Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Nana Obiri Boahen said they would not allow any member of the NDC to attack the President or any member whether physically or verbally.

He cautioned big wigs of the NDC like Mr. Asiedu Nketia, Koku Anyidoho, Mr. Kofi Portuphy to be guided by their utterances as the NPP is ready to respond accordingly.

“We shall caution that, if they throw mud at President Nana Akufo-Addo in whom Ghanaians have reposed their confidence, we will pay them back in equal measure,” he stated.

‘Enough is enough’, he said.

The Deputy General Secretary also reacted to the NDC’s condemnation of seizures of state properties and institutions by the NPP stating that the NDC engaged in similar acts in 2009 when they assumed power.

He referred to similar incidents carried out by the NDC when they took power in 2009, led by National Chairman of the Party, Mr. Portuphy.

“It is most shocking that Mr. Kofi Portuphy lead the charge against the NPP about seizures. The NDC National Chairman was one of the principal persons who masterminded or conducted foot soldier’s seizure of state institutions and facilities,” he stated.

In 2009, he said, Mr. Portuphy led the NDC to physically take over NADMO and subsequently imposed himself on NADMO until the late President Atta Mills requested that he takes over.

According to Nana Boahen, it was Mr. Portuphy who signed the initial dismissal letter of Mr. Asiedu Akrofi.

He added that, Mr. Portuphy lacks morality to ask the NPP to stop the seizure as they led the charge and the NPP would respond.
