Acting General Secretary of the Convention People's Party (CPP), Yaw Asani Tano has ditched his party's presidential candidate to endorse President John Mahama's second term bid.

According to Mr. Tano his decision stems from the fact that his presidential candidate, Ivor Greenstreet had to form an all-inclusive campaign team after he was given the nod to lead the CPP into the 2016 elections.

“Ever since we had our congress…the flagbearer does not work with me. I don’t know whatever goes on in the party and I have consistently called him to make him aware that what he is doing is not good but he does not care”, he stated, adding that "he [Ivor Greenstreet] rejected all the plans that I put across to help us win the presidency and so I will vote for President Mahama”.

Speaking on Onua FM on Monday, he declared, “If it is development, I will vote for President Mahama because he has done a lot of development in the country. My party and the flagbearer do not deserve my vote and the rest of Ghanaians”
