AFCON 2017: Gyan header qualifies Ghana for quarter finals

Ghana's Black Stars have qualified for the Quarter finals of AFCON 2017 after beating the Eagles of Mali 1-0 at the Stade de Port Gentil on Saturday.

Skipper Asamoah Gyan nodded home powerfully on 21 minutes after a Jordan Ayew cross found him in the Malian goal area.

The goal, Gyan's eighth in AFCON competitions ensured the second win of the tournament for the Black Stars.

In match of two halves, the Black Stars dominated the first half while the Eagles dominated the second half. 

Having been held to a goalless draw by Egypt in the their first match, the Malians were bent on avoiding a loss and took the game to the Black Stars.

But the Black Stars' defends stood tall with goalkeeper making two important saves in the dying embers of the game.
