In order to earn some level of support from 'angry' Ghanaians, the Black Stars must win their first group game against Uganda in Port Gentil tomorrow.

The Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON) began in Gabon on Saturday but the usual euphoria associated with such competitions especially with Ghana participating is missing.

Most people are not interested in supporting the Black Stars again following the Brazil fallout but might have a change of heart if the Black Stars begin the competition on a bright note.

The game against Uganda would be very crucial for coach Avram Grant and his charges as it would set their ambition to win the trophy on the right path.

It would also go a long way to gain some support from Ghanaians as the only way to console the embittered supporters is to play well and win games.

The Black Stars are hoping to end over 30 years of trophy drought at a time that most Ghanaians are against them.

However, the team must win the game against all odds in order to gradually get the support going into subsequent games.

Gabon the host nation, had the needed support but were unable to beat Guinea-Bissau in the opening match of the tournament.

The lack of national support would therefore not be a tangible excuse if the Black Stars fail to beat Uganda tomorrow.
