As potentially the most unpredictable Royal Rumble in history commences, line movement has been just as volatile. Of all the recent developments the two most interesting are Braun Strowman's apparent rise as a Royal Rumble favorite, and the growing momentum behind Samoa Joe making his WWE debut.

WWE gamblers are a very astute group, many of whom snuffed out the Undertaker's loss at WrestleMania 30, widely regarded as the most shocking moment in WWE history.

And as the Royal Rumble approaches, the Undertaker's biggest competition for the Royal Rumble has risen to the top of some sportsbooks. As of this writing, Sky Bet currently lists Strowman as a 5/2 favorite, giving him better odds than Undertaker, who currently stands at 11/4.

Equally as intriguing is the backing of Samoa Joe, who has rallied in several Royal Rumble wagers on overseas betting site Paddy Power.  After seeing 33/1 odds to win it all last month, Samoa Joe has entered the top-five with 9/2 odds as the outright winner. He currently leads the field of options for "in-ring appearance" with 1/8 odds to appear in the Royal Rumble match, and is currently ranked second with 5/2 odds for most eliminations.

As gamblers continue to pour money into several different scenarios that involve the Samoan Submission Machine, his WWE debut is all but imminent. Samoa Joe dropped the NXT Championship to Shinsuke Nakamura during a recent international tour of NXT. Joe has been in NXT since 2015, where he has had high-profile feuds with Apollo Crews, Sami Zayn, Finn Balor and Kevin Owens, all of whom have since moved on to the WWE roster. It's no wonder that his NXT departure is such a popular consensus among WWE bettors. For the 37-year-old veteran, it's now or never.
