An eighteen-month-old child has been rescued from the debris of a building that collapsed four days ago in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.

The six-storey residence which had been marked for demolition collapsed during heavy rain, killing at least 22 people and its owner appeared in court today for manslaughter.

About 135 people have been freed so far from the collapsed building but scores of others are still thought to be buried under the rubble, but hopes of finding more alive are fading.

The Kenya Red Cross said the baby girl was rushed to the hospital after being found in the rubble at 04:00 local time (01:00 GMT), in a bucket wrapped in a blanket and looked dehydrated, but had no visible injuries, the BBC reported.
