Thirty eight people have died in Mexico in landslides and flooding after Tropical Storm Earls swept through the country's eastern regions.

According to the BBC, the worst affected state is Puebla, where officials say 28 people died. Another 10 people were killed in the state of Veracruz.

The current death toll makes mince meat of the previously reported six casualties.
