The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), Ghana is set to hold the 2018 edition of the annual Thanksgiving dinner event on Saturday, November 17, 2018, in Accra.

The annual event is to commemorate the American National Thanksgiving Day, network and raise funds for a charity cause and it starts at 7pm.

A release issued in Accra on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, and signed by the executive secretary of the chamber said: “This year’s event is on the theme: “When Diplomacy Meets Business: Strengthening US-Ghana Relations to Unlock Business Opportunities”.

It said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Madam Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, would be the Special Guest of Honour for this year’s event. Other guests include Mr Christopher J. Lamora, the Chargé d’Affaires (Acting U.S. Ambassador to Ghana), business executives from the American and Ghanaian business community, prominent traditional rulers and officials of the US Mission to Ghana and other heads of Mission

“The event, over the years, has served as an avenue for networking and interaction with top government officials and policymakers in a relaxed and entertaining environment,” it said.

Last year, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, Finance Minister according to the release, explained to attendees the reasoning behind some government policy initiatives.

The release said there would be an art auction to raise funds for a charity cause, an awards ceremony to honour the Outstanding U.S. and Ghanaian government officials and the Best AmCham Ghana Member for 2018.

Last year, Ayesha Bedwei from PwC, Edward William Wiafe of Landsar Developer and Nii Amanor Dodoo of KPMG received the Best Member awards.

The headline sponsor for this event is Kimathi & Partners, a leading law firm in the country, supported by Delta Airlines, which is also making available a special business class ticket for auction on the night.

At this event, the U.S Business Community will offer financial support to two identified charities operating in the educational sector.
