The commission as part of its exercise to protect data collected on individuals and businesses published the names of 177 institutions which are not duly licensed.

Explaining to journalists the reason for the arrest and prosecution of directors of the institutions, head of the cyber unit of the Ghana Police Service Dr. Gustav Yankson, said the institutions refused to respect calls by the Data Protection Commission to license their companies despite the numerous appeals and grace period given them.

He said much focus will be placed on the hospitality industry and the hospitals in the country.
