The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority [DVLA] has dismissed claims that its new digital smart card license will cost ₵450.

The Authority says the cost of the new digital will range between ₵50 to ₵80 but not ₵450 as claim by some reports.
As part of DVLA digitization process, new digital smart cards will be issued by the authority from July 18 to replace the manual system of issuing licenses.

Vehicles registered from 1995 to date have already be moved to the new digital system. The digital system is expected to reduce the human-to-human interaction during the procurement of a license and move away from the paper documentation.

There have been reports which suggest the new card will cost ₵450, but at a press briefing in Accra, the DVLA boss  Kwasi Agyeman Busia said the reports are not true that the new card may cost between ₵50 to ₵80.
