The Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, George Blankson says stakeholders in the sub-region are exploring innovative ways to curtail illicit financial flow.

According to the commissioner, this will help tax authorities regulate the number of undocumented transaction that goes on across the sub-region.

“Any evaluation of the tax laws, anything that comprises or undermines tax laws actually ends up diminishing the tax base.

“So therefore we must approach the problem of securing the tax base in a very broad way, illicit financial inflow is a key part of the duration of the tax base as we see in the sub-region” he disclosed on GBC Business News.

He also added “when resources are transferred across boarders without proper documentations, you will ask yourself what’s the reason, and once resources are without documentation it means the transaction is carried out under the raider of the tax authorities.”
