Ghana will be playing host to exhibitors from over 20 countries at the 4th West Africa’s International Trade Show next month.

According to a source close to the organizing team, over 90 exhibitors from about 21 countries have so far registered for participation.

The 4th West Africa Trade Show is focused on promoting the Agricultural, Food & Beverages, Plastics, and Printing & Packaging Solutions as well as Technological sectors in the West-African sub-region.

Organized by the German trade fair specialists Fairtrade, the event will take place at the Accra International Conference Centre from the 5th to 7th of next month - December 2017

In an earlier highlight of some reasons behind its organization, the organizers said the was part of an effort to maximize the huge investment opportunities in the sub-region as indicated by recent positive economic data of WTO and VDMA – which showed a clear upward trend for West Africa’s Agrofood, Plastic, Print & Packaging industries.

The efforts, they claimed will particularly help boost local production and reduce west – Africa’s huge dependence on imports – especially of food products.

Currently - aside Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Senegal respectively are the largest importers of finished foods as well as of agricultural and food processing and packaging technology in the sub region.

According to the recent World Trade Organization data, West African food imports rose by about 10%  (from US$14.4 billion in 2015 to $13.1 billion the previous year - 2014, a plus of 10%.

An obvious indication of the untapped potential in West Africa’s food market.
