The National Planning Committee of the Ghana's 60th Anniversary celebration has warned against the pirating of the official cloth for the celebration.

According to the spokesperson of the committee, Jefferson Sackey, a special board will be constituted to regulate the pricing and the sale of the cloth but until then, it would be illegal to purchase it from anyone

"In all other years, we've realised that during such anniversaries people just go out of Ghana and print stuff and bring it in which is not a great thing to do [because] if you do that you are not giving opportunity to the local textile industry to be able to develop. So what we are doing is that we actually contracted a local textile manufacturing company to take charge of the independence anniversary cloth in order to open up business for the local industry."

Speaking in an interview with Joy News TV on Monday, since other people have designed their own logos for it would likely want to produce some of the cloth for sale, the committee has tasked the local manufacturer to ensure that in doing that they have to put down great security measures so that even if people are going to copy it, it's going to be very difficult for the to do it.

He added that the committee was doing everything ensure that cloth will be original, available and affordable.

"The committee is putting in measures so that original cloth cannot be pirate and would regulate the release of the cloth from the distribution to the retail centres in order to tackle hoarding and overpricing", he stated, adding that "we're budgeting that this cloth is extremely affordable for Ghanaians".
