The Vice President of the republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged investors and development partners to consider trading with Ghana.

Addressing the fifth annual World Government Summit in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Dr. Bawumia said, Ghana was better positioned for trade than it was as an aid recipient from its development partners.

“The Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government wants a relationship with the world driven more by Trade than Aid,” the Vice President said.

Speaking on the topic Leapfrogging Development: The African Story yesterday, Dr. Bawumia noted that, the potential for harnessing technology for growth in Africa was enormous, emphasizing the need for Ghana and other African countries to seize the opportunity.

He stated that “Africa has to understand that the process of leapfrogging must be homegrown and implemented in full, hoping that, in the next five years, Africa will become the fastest growing continent in the world”.

The summit scheduled to run from yesterday, Sunday 12th February to Tuesday 14th February, 2017 has its year theme as “Shaping Future Governments”, and is, with over 3,000 leaders and policy makers from the private & public sector, meant to create a platform for honest interaction between these global leaders on the future of governments.

Co–panelist at the opening session of the summit on Sunday with Ghana’s Vice President Dr. Bawumia included President of Guinea, Mr. Alpha Conde.
