One of the country’s information technology solutions and training firm -West Blue Ghana Limited (WBGL) has been acquired by Customs World, a subsidiary of Ports Customs and Free Zones Corporation (PCFC) Dubai.

This follows the signing of a takeover agreement by both companies that will now make Customs World the new owner of WBGL and the formalization of the establishment of “Ports & Customs World Ghana Limited.”

Until its acquisition, West Blue was the government contractor responsible for the provision of the National Single Window and Risk Management System in Ghana.

Under the takeover agreement, Customs World International is expected to invest capital, world-class technologies and human expertise in its new subsidiary in Ghana.

Commenting on the development - CEO of West Blue Ghana Limited, Valentina Mintah said: "In Ghana, we have made significant strides in the last few years with the Ghana National Single Window and in the recent month, the Paperless Programme”.

She added that Dubai embarked on a similar paperless journey in 2005 and has completely moved into an automated hi-tech system over the last ten years.

Ms. Mintah expressed the view that the new combination of local and global expertise (facilitated by the Customs World’s takeover), taking into consideration Ghana’s own unique trade environment, will help consolidate on the progress made so far in the implementation of the system in Ghana, for the benefit of the trading community, government and ultimately the general public.
