Veteran female highlife icon Awurama Badu has passed away Thursday night at a hospital in Kumasi, where she lived.

She was reportedly ill for a period and died while on admission at the Effiduase Government Hospital in the Sekyere East district of the Ashanti Region.

The singer was popularly known for songs such as Med)fo adaadaa me, Komkom, Emelia, and Obaatan refr3 ne mma.

Awurama was last publicly seen at the 2nd Annual General Meeting of the Ghana Music Right Organization held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in August this year.

Noted for her inspiring and educative songs, Awurama Badu was in 2016 honoured by Values for Life, a non-profit organization founded by actress and former Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Dzifa Abla Gomashie at an event dubbed ‘A Night With Female Legends’ to celebrate and honour some of the biggest names in Ghana’s creative art industry.
