I had my leg amputated hence my long absence from screens - McJordan Amartey

Veteran actor, McJordan Amartey who delighted many film lovers with his wit, grammar and antics has resurfaced after years of going under.

The ‘You Can’t Laugh’ actor who made a name for himself in the 90’s with Grace Omaboe, Grace Nortey, Victor lutterodt, Sheila Nortey, Monica Quarqopono and other stars of that era has been inactive in his industry and has explained in a recent interview that he got his leg amputated hence his reluctance to be seen in public.

"Actually, am physically challenged. I can't walk steadily. My right leg has been amputated and its been sorrow for me. It's about four yours, since my leg was amputated. A lot of People think am dead and gone. So currently I don't sort of love to be part of the films and what not.

"There are many old people still acting and I would also love to act, but because of my predicament I didn't want anybody to see me. There were hundreds of people from the media who came to me but I didn't want to see them because I was extremely sad," the ‘Eshei Wu Sisi, Eshei Wu Tiatia confessed to Razz Online.

Amartey had lived at Soko, a suburb in Accra with his wife and children but had relocated amid ailing health.

Before his self-imposed exile, Amartey had become a regular feature in Kumawood productions along Akrobetu, Agya Koo, Liwin, Kyeiwaa and other miniseries productions.

 

Perhaps choosing to speak now on his condition might be an indication, he is willing to hug the screens once more, after all he wears a prosthesis to aid with mobility.
