Highlife legend, Amandzeba Nat Brew, has disclosed that he turned down Deputy Minister of Culture offer under the late Prof. Attah Mills government.

According to Amandzeba, the Attah Mills government approached him to serve as the Deputy Minister of Chieftaincy and Culture but he refused.

Speaking in an interview on CitiFM’s traffic avenue with Jessica Saforo he said : “Just when Atta Mills came to office, they wanted me to become the Deputy Minister of Culture. I told them hell no,”

Amandzeba explained that he didn’t accept the offer because he could not stand incidents of conflict of interest for being a minister and an artiste.

“You are a minister, you are a very good artiste. Programmes come from outside. They want somebody to go and perform and everybody thinks I am the right person to go – do you know the tongues that would lash at me?” he said.

He added that people are dying to be popular but he believes in pedigree than popularity.

According to him, he’d rather impact society with the knowledge he has instead of doing things to be popular

Amandzeba first became famous as part of the band Nakorex, formed in 1992 with Akosua Agyapong and Rex Omar.\
