Ghanaian rapper Samuel Adu Frimpong, Medikal, has disclosed that he went through trauma after his arrest and remand at the Ankaful prison.

The rapper, speaking on why he unfollowed hundreds of people on Instagram, said he felt nobody loved him so he decided to unfollow them after his release.

He explained that he knows that it is not true that he was less loved by Ghanaians but his experience in jail left him traumatised and he didn’t want to see certain comments posted on social media at that time.

"I unfollowed a lot of people because I didn’t wanna see some things on social media and I was traumatised, I didn’t say people didn’t show me, love, I didn’t mean that,”  Medikal stated while speaking on Hitz FM.

Speaking about his arrest, the 'Accra' hitmaker added that it came to him as a shock because he had no idea that brandishing a gun on social media could get one arrested.

He said he thought it was only a crime when a gun was brandished publicly which will definitely cause fear and panic.

He further said that even though he’s still not abreast with all the possible things that could lead him to jail he’s more cautious now with whatever he does and post on social media. He advised his fans to also do the same.

"I didn’t know it was an offence or a crime. I thought brandishing was when you are in the public and you cause fear and panic but not when you are in a car and you post on Snapchat. But now I have learnt from it," he said.

"I would urge people to be careful about what they post on social media. I have learnt that with any action I take anything can happen. Right now I don’t know what might land me in trouble. I never knew it would happen," he added.

Medikal was arrested by the Police for brandishing a weapon in a Snapchat video in October 2021.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge of displaying arms and ammunition.

The court remanded him to prison custody but he was released after a few days. He reappeared in court on December 7, 2021.

However, the Accra Circuit Court 4 adjourned the case to January 25, 2022.

The adjournment follows pleas by his lawyer to give him the opportunity to attend some programmes outside the country during the festive season.
