Nigerian musician, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known in showbiz as Wizkid has set a record at the MOBO Awards 2021.

The winners of this year’s edition of MOBO Awards have been announced at the show that was held at Coventry's CBS Arena on Sunday, December 5, 2021.

Wizkid has become the first-ever African artiste to win the MOBO Awards for “Best African Act” & “Best International Act” in a single night.

This marks another big win for the 'Essence' hitmaker considering how he has made headlines in the music world within a few days.

Nominated among a competitive group of talented artistes like Doja Cat, Drake, Kanye West, Lil Nas X, Megan Thee Stallion, Polo G, Rema, Skillibeng, Young Stoner Life (Young Thug & Gunna), Wizkid pulled through as the winner for the prestigious award as the Best International act of the Year 2021.

Wizkid was also announced as the Best African Music Act of the year at the MOBO Awards 2021 from a category that also included Davido and Burna Boy.

Other nominees for the same category included CKay, Tiwa Savage, Rema, Tems, NSG, King Promise, and Ayra Starr.

Artiste, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and comedian and Munya Chawawa were the hosts of this year’s MOBO Awards.

The show also saw two Nigerian artistes Tiwa Savage present an award while Tems also performed on stage.

The MOBO Awards is an annual British awards ceremony that celebrates achievements in "music of black origin".

The show honours the best of the best in Hip-Hop, Grime, R&B, Soul, Reggae, Jazz, Gospel, and African music.
