At least ten people have died in a gory accident on the Winneba-Cape Coast Highway.
The accident reportedly occurred around 7:30 Monday night at about at Okyereko in the Gomoa West District of the Central region.
Several others sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to the trauma and specialist centre of the Winneba government hospital for treatment.
Three cars – a Hyndai Grace commercial vehicle, a pickup and a Mercedes Benz – were involved in the accident.
According to an eyewitness, the Hyundai Grace vehicle which was on its way to Accra tried to overtake an articulated truck and in the process collided with the Mercedes Benz and later hit the Toyota pickup which was heading towards Cape Coast .
The driver and mate of the Hyundai Grace as well as the driver of the Mercedez Benz lost their lives instantly with seven passengers from the Hyundai Grace also dying on the spot.
