About 150 unidentified and unclaimed dead bodies kept at the Police hospital mortuary are to be buried in mass grave.

A statement signed on behalf of the Medical Director and issued to the media on November 12, 2018, indicated that the hospital administration as part of routine measures to decongest the Police Hospital Mortuary will embark on a mass burial of those dead bodies after 21 days from the date of the notice to the general public.

It is believed that most of these unclaimed bodies were victims of motor accidents and were neither identified at the time of the accident nor subsequently claimed by families or relatives after their death.

The Administration is, therefore, calling on interested members of the public to contact the Pathology Department for identification of such unknown and unclaimed bodies.

"The general public is encouraged to inform relatives and friends of their movements and travel schedules and also to acquire the habit of always having some form of personal identification of any kind on them to help the Police and others to easily identify them whenever they are in any health crises or involved in an accident", the statement added.
