Three men are in Police custody after they attempted to drown two men in a manhole filled with water.


The three persons accused the two of stealing iron rods at Danfa near Accra.

The two who were rescued are Kwaku Akorli, 51 and Hope Hortor, 28, all masons were tied to bamboo sticks and submerged in a manhole filled with water after they were accused by the owner of a construction site where they worked of stealing iron rods.

They were saved by the Adoteiman Police after calls from some concerned persons.

It has been speculated that the perpetrators, Manasseh Adzroku, Victor Harrison and Collins Amoako, made the two masons suffer this ordeal for allegedly stealing iron rods to be used for the construction works.

Eyewitnesses say the victims, who were found to be very weak were immediately rescued and rushed to the Danfa Health Center for medical attention.

The suspects were later rounded up and are currently assisting police in investigations.

Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, DSP. Afia Tenge, said the perpetrators have been detained at the Ayi Mensa Police Station.
