Five staff of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) may face summary dismissal if investigations confirm their alleged involvement in stealing items belonging to the health facility.

The five who are currently under investigations on the instructions from the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr David .Z. Kolbilla were reported to have engaged in various shady deals.

Dr David .Z. Kolbilla who confirmed the incident to the media refused to mention names but disclosed that a body has been established to look into the matter while internal disciplinary sanctions have been applied against others.

“In order to instil discipline at the facility, I ordered an internal disciplinary proceeding on some personnel while investigations on other cases are still ongoing”.

Meanwhile, authorities have warned all staff to, henceforth, desist from any form of extortion of monies from patients without the issuance of official receipts indicating that such acts will go with the corresponding sanctions.

In a release issued and signed by the CEO, it stated that management has received several complaints from the public, including petitions from youth groups and traditional authorities on the issue of the rampant illegal extortion of monies from patients by some individual staff from some departments of the hospital.

Recent media investigations revealed a lot of rot at the hospital, allegedly stemming from health personnel pocketing patient’s monies for their personal enrichment whereas other doctors, including the CEO operating other private clinics to the detriment of the Tamale Teaching hospital.
