The Chief Executive Officers (CEO) of eight State Owned Enterprises (SOE) are expected to outline details of a turn-around in their operations over the last 23 months.
This will be done at the 5th National Policy Summit to be held on Monday, December 10 in Takoradi.
They include the Accra Digital Centre, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Free Zones Authority (GFZB), State Housing Company, and Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
The others are the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan (NEIP), Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) and Inter-ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining.
At a press briefing in Accra on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, the Minister of Information, Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah recalled that at the beginning of the Akufo-Addo-led-administration, some SOEs made known the challenges they were facing in their various enterprises; resulting in some measures being put in place to ensure improvements in those areas.
He stated, for example, that, some of those measures have led to institutions such as the GFZB to record over a billion dollars in exports so far.
“Accra Digital Centre, for example, has deployed a mechanism that has created over 1000 jobs in their sector alone and State Housing Company, 250.”
He said it was against this backdrop that the 5th National Policy Summit, under the theme “Improving Performance in State-Owned Enterprises”, would be given the opportunity to spell out the activities that led to their improved performances.

“All through Monday in Takoradi at the 5th National Policy Summit, the CEOS of these enterprises and programs will be giving a detailed outline of how they have worked to turn these sectors around, the tangible results of their work so far and the significance of these gains to the national economic renaissance.”
According to Mr. Oppong Nkrumah, the CEOs will subject their works to scrutiny under the auspices of the State Enterprises Commission “and it is our expectation that their stories will challenge others to achieve similar success while offering stakeholders an opportunity to engage and give feedback.”
