The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) has expressed reservation about the appointment of former MP for Kade, Ofosu Asamoah as Executive Secretary of the National Labour Commission (NLC)

General Secretary, Solomon Kotei, says the appointment did not follow due process and the appointee’s political association could hamper the operations of the commission.

In an interview on Accra based StarrFm, he made reference to the appointment of the former Executive Secretary Charles Adongo Bawa Duah who had to go through an interview process by the Public Sector Commission before being approved for the position.

The manner in which Mr Asamoah has been appointed directly by the president without due process is inappropriate “we all know the decisions of the Commission, we need not to have people with party colours and these are the concerns we are raising.” Mr Kotei intimated.

The ICU General Secretary  says his outfit would raise the issue with the appointing authority to find a lasting solution to the impasse.
