Armed Robbery: Mother stabbed to death on her way home

Armed robbers have fatally stabbed to death a 44-year old woman on Wednesday night while on her way to her home in Obuasi, Ashanti region.

Bernice Paku who deals in Batik was pierced in her abdomen with a kitchen knife used by the robbers, the police have confirmed.

According to Joy News report, the robbers snatched her bag and bolted. Her husband Kwaku Paku said he spoke to his wife at about 7:45 pm who informed him she was close to her house at Sam Jonah, a community in Obuasi.

Moments later, he said, he heard his wife screaming and calling for help. He rushed out to find his wife writhing and rushed her to a hospital where she died.

She was survived by three children.

Death: Lebanese businessman shot dead after leaving bank

On the same Wednesday, February 28 in Accra, a Lebanese businessman has been shot dead shortly after he went to withdraw cash from Zenith Bank at the Tema Industrial Area Wednesday morning.

The deceased popularly know as Alhaji was trailed by armed robbers after he had left the bank at about 11:30 am in his Toyota Corolla vehicle.

According to an eyewitness, the deceased's car was blocked by the armed gang who then shot him and bolted with an amount believed to be 200,000 cedis.

The witness said at least eight armed men in a car and on a motorbike carried out the attack.
