Mark Sebastian Ashigbui, the Communications Manager of Big Tyme Multimedia, says the upkeep of kids is not solely the responsibility of parents but a collective community responsibility.

To this end, has called on individuals to support and care for street kids and orphans, who through no fault of theirs have lost their parents.

He said Christmas was a time for merrymaking and it was appropriate society reached out to the needy, especially street kids, adding that,  “It should not only be at Christmas times but a normal exercise for the children to know the warmth of family and have a sense of belonging.”

Mr Ashigbui said this on Monday when Big Tyme Multimedia held a Christmas party for street kids and other children in Accra.

The party, which fed about 1,000 kids, the first project of Big Tyme Multimedia, seeks to be an annual event.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Ashigbui said: “We are not only going to stick to the street kids, but we are going to look out for orphanages and deserted people across the country to reach out to.”

He said it was the primary goal of the group to mentor and let kids cultivate a reading habit through the project.

The kids were served with rice and chicken for lunch as well as drinks and assorted pastries, amidst music and other games to entertain themselves.

Among the activities to mark the day was a reading clinic and mentorship programme.

Big Tyme Multimedia is an event-oriented company that focuses on music production, event organisation management and souvenirs production.
