The chief of Sefwi Awiokrom, Nana Ahwoi Payne I, has allocated 40 acres of land to help President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo implement his signature “one district, one factory” policy in the area.

The chief told Rainbow Radio the community would want Akufo-Addo to set up a factory in the area to take advantage of the cocoa that is produced there.

“We are predominantly cocoa farmers and so we will be grateful if government constructs a factory that will add value to what we produce here. It could be a beverage processing factory or any cocoa-related product,” he said.

Nana Ahwoi Payne I said the land would give government the impetus to set up the factory as quickly as possible.

Documents detailing how the newly installed government plans to implement "one district, one factory" policy were recently revealed.

The documents spell out the implementation plans as well the timeline for the first phase of the roll-out of the policy.

The establishment of factories under the new policy is expected within the first 100 days of Akufo-Addo's presidency.

The implementation is to be managed by collaboration between the public and private sectors through an organisation which will specifically be set up for that purpose.
