The Ghana Police Service in conjuction with British officials have arrested one of Britain's most cocaine fugitives, David McDermott, who happens to be the son-in-law of the Governor of Bank of Ghana, Dr Henry Kofi Wampah.

The 42-year-old Brit, wanted in connection with the importation of £71 million worth of cocaine into the UK in 2013, is reported to be married to a daughter of Dr Wampah known as Ramona with whom he has a child.

The suspect had been on the run for three years living an affluent lifestyle.

It is still unclear how well the Wampah family knew about McDermott's past.
