The New Juaben Municipal Assembly (NJMA) in the Eastern Region has moved to find solutions to the recent flooding incidents by setting up a seven-member committee to investigate the cause of flooding in the municipality.

According to the MCE, Kwabena Okyere Kusi the committee's work is “to go round all the flood prone areas and identify all the structures that are impeding the free flow of running water when it rains and also identify various issues that contribute to flooding in the committee".

Speaking to the media on Monday, Mr Kusi said the committee’s had between Monday and Friday to complete their work.

Parts of the municipal area was on Sunday  submerged in water after a downpour with one person reported dead while another was unaccounted for.

Homes and other infrastructure in the township were also severely affected forcing many to lodge with relatives and friends or simply sleep in the open.

Sunday's flooding came after a similar one occurred on September 11, this year during two hours of heavy rain.
