Ibrahim Mahama, CEO of Engineers & Planners has sued the Communications Director of the Ghana National Gas Company, Ernest Owusu Bempah, and the Despite Group of Companies – owners UTV, for defamation.

According to the plaintiff Ernest Owusu Bempah, on March 3, 2018, went on UTV’s morning show and, during a discussion, categorically accused Ibrahim Mahama of being a ‘thief.’

In a suit filed on March 22, 2018, brother of former President John Mahama stated emphatically that, the comment made by the first defendant Ernest Owusu Bempah on UTV is false and has done a lot of damage to his reputation as a businessman, and, thus, praying the court to award him damages of GH¢2 million against the two defendants.

Ibrahim Mahama wants among other things, the court to restrain the two defendants from publishing any such comments about him and also the second defendant, UTV to remove from it archives be it electronic or whatever form the said defamatory statement.
