The Sekondi Gender-based Court in the Western Region has sentenced a 40-year-old man, Joshua Mensah, who committed incest by having sexual intercourse with her two daughters and impregnating one of them in the process, to 20-years imprisonment.

The Court presided over by Mrs. Rita Doku, on Friday June 1, 2018, convicted Mr. Mensah after he pleaded guilty to all the four counts of incest and defilement of her two daughters and impregnanting one of them.

The prosecutor told the Court that Joshua Mensah was arrested for committing incest by having sexual intercourse with her two daughters and impregnating one of them in the process.

He said Joshua Mensah took custody of the two girls, aged, 10 and 13 from their mother who is living in Accra when they broke up, sent them to Daboasi in the Western Region and started defiling them.

The 13-year-old girl, who dropped out of school after her father took custody of them is currently five months and three weeks old pregnant.

He was said to have continued the sexual escapade with the girls in Sekondi Pipe Ano, Esaaman, and eventually, Daboase where his cover was blown and the matter reported to the Daboase Police leading to the arrested.

Though the two girls, (name withheld), were said to have reported their ordeal to their grandmother in Daboase, the woman was said to have rebuked them, claiming there was nothing wrong for their father to have sex with them.

According to the girls, their father started having sexual intercourse with them about a year ago and have since been sexually abused.

Prosecutor told the court that their pleas to their father proved futile as he usually beats them whenever they attempt to resist.

The two girls were sent to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi for pregnancy and other related medical tests.
