The event which was originally scheduled for March 5, 2018, has been rescheduled to take place on March 6, 2018, to allow President Nana Akufo-Addo, grace the occasion.

Addressing Journalists Director of Operations at the Presidency, Lord Commey said the ceremony would be held at the Accra International Conference Centre after the Ghana@61 March Parade, he added that the president who is currently out of the country directed that, the event be rescheduled so he would be able to attend.

“The event was originally scheduled for the 5th of March, 2018 but the president so keen in wanting to be here and do it himself has asked that the 5th of March President’s Awards be shifted to the 6th of March after the parade. So that program for the awards is shifted from the 5th of March as originally slated for 6th of March from 4:30-6pm and the venue remain unchanged,’’ he said.

Since its inception in 1993, the President’s Independence Day Awards celebrate pupils from each of the ten regions of Ghana, who have performed creditably in their Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE).
