A lawyer and transportation planner says since the adoption of democratic rule 25years on, Ghana's growth has never been a deliberate attempt but rather an accident.

David Ofosu Dortey. a senior partner at A.B & David Affiliates said he is not doubting the development prospects of the country but the speed and how integrated the growth will be is a problem.

According to him, funding and capacity have always been referred to as the bottleneck to development but all these assertions are deceptions and cannot be true because even with funds we don’t implement the needed projects.

Outlining some examples to that effect, David Ofosu Dortey said in 2007 funding was provided by the World Bank for a BRT bus lane from the Graphic road to Kasoa but the project was not implemented.

He added in 1995/6 the then urban roads put together a 50kilometer network of bicycle pass in Accra from Nima through to Asylum down to the ministries but, they have now become parking space.

But in a radio interview, David Ofosu Dortey stressed the Presidents aspirations and dreams for a bright future can only be achieved if there is a conscious effort to change the attitude of Ghanaians.

He observed that policies in the country do not succeed because the attitude of Ghanaians are designed to make things fail.

David Ofosu Dortey called for a holistic approach to tackling the issues of attitudinal change because it seems there is no correlation between the objectives of the country and the actions we take.
