The Ghana Statistical Service has launched the Ghana Stats App, a mobile application providing district-level statistics based on the 2010 and 2021 Population and Housing Censuses.

This user-friendly mobile application provides statistics for 2021 on 23 indicators under nine Vision 2057 focal areas such as population management, health services, employment and decent work, poverty, inequality and social protection,

The comparison of 2010 and 2021 statistics measures progress for 21 indicators that had comparable data for the two census years.

Additionally, the application provides district-level population for 2010 and 2021 and projected population for 2024 and 2030.

In an address at the launching ceremony on Tuesday, the Chairperson of the Ghana Statistical Service Governing Board, Dr Grace Bediako, disclosed that the mobile application allows data users to access levels and ranks for all 261 districts in Ghana and indicators at the national and regional levels.

“As such, it is a tool designed to support progress tracking and the design of targeted interventions as well as raising the statistical literacy of the population,” she emphasised.

She stated that the development of the Ghana Stats App responds to the demand for accessible and user-friendly statistical tools to support decision-making at the sub-national levels.

Over the past two years, GSS has developed diverse statistical products providing disaggregated data such as the GSS StatsBank, the Digital Census Atlas and Rasterised Data.

“The Ghana Stats mobile application will thus complement the existing tools developed by the Statistical Service to provide disaggregated data at the district level,” she said, emphasising that this data is “essential for effective policymaking, targeted interventions, and the overall achievement of national and international development goals.”

She charged Ghanaians to commit to making data-driven decisions that will help the Country achieve its national development goals and build a Ghana where every district thrives, leaving no one behind.

The Ghana Stats application can be downloaded from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei App Gallery.
