Hundreds of Ghanaian migrants who were rescued from Libya are pleading with government to assist them with viable jobs that can sustain them.

About one hundred and twenty-seven (127) Ghanaian detainees were flown back to Ghana on Wednesday night after they were rescued from detention centers in Libya following CNN’s footage of migrants being auctioned off as slaves in Libya.

Upon their return, the migrants have shared several disturbing accounts of their ordeal in the North African country.

One of the migrants who shared his story with journalists revealed that he was sold by a fellow Ghanaian in the unstable Libya.

“What I found myself in Libya, I wouldn’t wish for even my worst enemy, we were sold like bread by our own fellow Ghanaians. And it was a very disheartening experience. We went through the desert and some of us disappeared without a trace and others were shot and killed, luckily for some of us, we were able to escape and were arrested and brought to the deportation center,” he narrated.

Another who called on government to help them find jobs recalled how he used to manage his own tomato selling business before he embarked on his journey to Europe through the mediterranean sea. He pleaded that they only need a push and some financial help from government and benevolent individuals and organizations to be able to begin life again.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo in a meeting with leaders of three European countries including French president Emmanuel Macron at the Flagstaff house today, Thursday, where the issue of migration was discussed extensively, assured that his government will ensure that the due environment is created to help the migrants reintegrate into the society.
