Ghanaians on twitter have lashed out at the 'poor health care system' in the country amidst sharing their horrible experiences and losses.

The thread of discussions were sparked by a tweet by one Selorm, who had lost his uncle Wednesday, after several attempts to get health care practitioners to attend to the emergency situation at different hospitals.

According to him, his uncle, who had been ill for a while was finding it difficult to breathe so they had to rush him to the Korle Bu teaching hospital. On reaching the emergency ward, the doctors asked them to bring a letter instead of attending to him.

They then moved to a Polyclinic, where none of the workers paid heed to them, and further moved the uncle, who was in a wheelchair all the while, to the Nurses Station where they finally told him there were no beds so they could not treat him. The doctor then referred him to Ridge, however, his uncle died on the way out.

The viral tweet triggered public outrage at the behaviour of the health professionals, with others calling on the government to act swiftly on it.

Following the tweet, another person shared his experience where his mum who was admitted at a Kumasi-based hospital was being injected with an expired drip.

Many blame lack of jobs as the reason for the negligence and unprofessionalism exhibited in the health sector. Most of the Ghanaians believe that the health professionals, especially nurses took up nursing because they were not accepted into universities and as such have no passion for the job.

Some even called on the government to oust or deal appropriately with such health practitioners who do not do their jobs well in order to strengthen the system in the country.

The public discussions shortly follow an incidence where 4 individuals died after receiving a deadly injection from a retired disease control officer at the New Senchi Health centre in the Eastern region.

The victims had gone to the facility to seek treatment for their skin infections but instead got administered the contaminated injections. According to health authorities, the fatal injections were administered to between 15 to 20 people, but only five out of them have been identified.

They have therefore appealed to persons who may have received the deadly injections to come forward for medical assistance.
